A moving visit to the American World War II Cemetery set a reflective tone before we traded solemn marble for flour-dusted counters and rolling pins. Expecting the usual pasta-and-tiramisu routine, we were instead treated to a feast of surprises—platters of antipasti piled high with meats, cheeses, and crusty bread, followed by hands-on creations: stuffed tomatoes, pillowy potato gnocchi, hand-stuffed Italian sausage, cannelloni, fresh salad… and of course, generous pours of local wine—again and again. And just when we thought we couldn’t eat another bite? Back to our beautiful Tuscan villa for yet another spectacular dinner. Because in Italy, there is always room for one more course—and one more glass of wine.
